If you are over the tender age of 40, you
may have noticed greater difficulty in reading small print. This normal
part of the ocular ageing process is called ‘Presbyopia’ and the answer
is single vision reading spectacles. The difficulty with these specs
is the blur when you look up from the print.
Well no longer. A new product has entered the lens market, namely
the ‘variable focus reading lens’. Unlike the multifocal/ progressive
lens or better known as the ‘bifocal’, this new lens allows near and
intermediate focal lengths only, which is perfect for reading, desk,
computer and office work in general.
It’s also great for those who like to read recipes while cooking.
You are also not bound by an unsightly line across the middle of the
lens. So ask your optometrist about this new lens and gone will be
the days of having to persistently peer over the frame to see further
away.
Pam and Andy Muir from Muir Optometrists have been practising in Knysna
and Plett for the past 15 years and look forward to meeting up with
both new and existing clients to discuss your “eyes’ needs”. |
