MOSSEL BAY TOURISM UPDATE

Pinnacle Point Beach and Golf Club

Pinnacle Point Beach and Golf Club had a wonderful launch in December 2002. Sales at the estate have been extremely good with 80% of the 120 Golf Lodges already sold. Sales prices on these units vary between R 1m and R1,7m. A further 20% of the Residential plots have been sold - prices on these plots range from R 395 000 and R3m. The development will certainly add to the already excellent reputation that Mossel Bay has as a tourist destination. Golfers will be in for a treat when the course is completed - with the dramatic cliffs and seven holes crossing the sea or hugging the cliff line it will be a truly one of the unique golf courses of the world.

Moquini Coastal Estate

Moquini (Dana Bay) had another bountiful season with sales of R 5m recorded between December 2002 and March 2003. The unique coastal estate with its' low density development plan and equestrian centre has been a big attraction to international investors. Sales have now reached a sell out of 80% of the development.
Moquini Heights

This year will see the culmination of Moquini's exciting new group housing development "Moquini Heights" situated at the entrance to the private nature reserve. The development has dramatic views accross Moquini Coastal Estate and the bay towards Vleebaai. A 100 unit Tuscan Village has been conceptualised and will boast a central club house, tennis court and swimming pool area. Security will be premium with a guardhouse and will be fully walled. Sales of the development will commence in October 2003.

Diaz Beach Resort:
Diaz Beach sales have increased by 52% from last year. Visitors have increased from 1.1 mill. to 1.8 mill. (70% up). Some unusual yet interesting stats are :
4 500 cocktails were sold/ 30 000 cokes were sold/35 000 people used the Lazy River/ 40 000 people used the Heated Swimming Pool/ 160 000 people were on the beach during the Trans Agullas Rubberduck Race.
The current investment in Diaz Beach is approx R100 million. However completed developments in the town in the last 5 years amount to R400 million.
Future developments include the first phase of a new upmarket 90 bed hotel. A new shopping centre is also on the cards, as well as futher residential units.
Diaz Beach representatives believe that additional Road Signs on the N2 would improve business further, although for some or other reason are not allowed except for the ATKV, and the Casino. Also if the infamous Louis Fourie road could change to a four lane road matters would be further improved.
