Pinnacle Point, near Mossel Bay, is to be the site of a new golf
and lifestyle development - an eighteen-hole course incorporating
two separate residential components - some 120 golf lodges and 500
free hold erven.
The course is being designed by Matco - the golf architect responsible
for many of South Africa's premier courses, amongst them Arabella,
Leopard Rock and Steenberg. Course designer Peter Matkovitch describes
Pinnacle Point as the most dramatic golf course site he's ever encountered
anywhere in the world.
Three very different features define Pinnacle Point - firstly the
two secluded beaches hidden on four kilometres of dramatic south
Cape coastline - secondly the land itself, four hundred hectares
of fynbos and milkwood thickets - and thirdly, the weather, this
area is said to have one of the most temperate climates in the world,
second only to Hawaii.
Pinnacle Point will add value to golf courses along the Garden
Route, which already hosts Fancourt etc., - "designed by God,
but shaped by Matco", says General Manager of Marketing, André
Bruyns.
But it appears that there is a great deal more to Pinnacle Point
than golf. As a residential development it has been planned in partnership
with nature - and has the approval of environmental and conservation
authorities. The area, home to limestone and 264 varieties proteanoid
fynbos and characterised by coastal milkwood thickets, is both ecologically
and archeologically sensitive. 100 hectares - 25% of the site -
will remain undeveloped, as a nature reserve. Various species of
buck will be introduced, adding to the natural experience of 100
000 years of fynbos and coastal bird life.
The 500 residential plots - subtly integrated into the fabric of
the golf course and the envelope of the nature reserve - vary in
size from 500 to 1500 square metres, and each has a sea view.. Ranging
from dramatic cliff top plots to cabin sites with sand reminiscent
to Clifton. Prices range from a very accessible R395 thousand, to
a premium of three million Rands for a signature plot , only 3 hours
from Cape Town and 25 min from George Airport.
ABSA are prepared to finance bonds up to 90%, this is an indication
of the investment value. Syndicate ownership available from R 125
000. There is an interesting facet to this investment opportunity
- the golf lodges can be part of a rental pool, which will provide
year-round accommodation for the conference centre in the affiliated
Garden Route Casino. This will allow owners to enjoy their own holiday
experience at Pinnacle Point and at the same time let the February
to November conference season contribute to their investment. The
units expect high rental pool occupancy and, at R 845 thousand,
promise to be an exciting financial opportunity.
As far as security is concerned, the entire estate - adjacent to,
but separate from, the Garden Route Casino - will be fully fenced.
The golf lodges and the golf course, with its residential development,
will have their own separate security and controlled access.
Other than the promise of great golf, a wellness centre will be
the hub of the various sports facilities. The walks and hiking trails,
on and off the property, offer nature at its best. Pinnacle point
is effectively the western gateway to the Garden Route - and the
rich recreational resource in the surrounding area is yours for
the taking, by car, on foot, by bike.
As a concept Pinnacle Point places a sound investment opportunity
in an exceptional lifestyle environment.
